What If...? changes how sentence travel can work in the MCU

Doctor Strange in What If...?

What If…?'s Doctor Strange sequence has, predictably, played with clip. But it's gone even further than that – and introduced a concept that could have far-reaching consequences for the rest of the MCU.

In the first act of the episode, a frenzied Mend Unnaturalised continually goes back in clock time to try and save up Christine. No matter what he does, she keeps on dying: car wreck, heart fire, and a hold back-up at a pizzeria are just whatsoever of the ways Rachel McAdams' sawbones shuffles off this earthly coil.

There's a conclude why Christine can't be saved. Even with the Wizard Ultimate's Time Stone and boundless magical, her death is referred to by the Ancient One as an 'Direct Point'.

In this macrocos at least, an Absolute Point is an "unchangeable, stabile" event that testament continue happening, even though the circumstances and context of use may change.

According to The Past One, Christine's expiry is the accelerator that spurs Doctor Strange down the path that would eventually lead to him defeating Dormammu. Without that, the universe would cease to exist – which is why the universe brutally takes Christine away every single clock time, No matter Imported's actions. Can Doctor Adventive find a way to break the Absolute Point? You'll need to watch the new episode to come up that out.

Sol, if an Absolute Signal shows heavenward once more in the MCU, there's no changing what happens. That also substance everything that has happened in the MCU to this point, as Former Armed Forces as we sleep with, is fairly malleable. But the opposite is also true. Absolute Points plausibly do exist, but this is the first time someone has directly encountered them – with utterly weighty consequences.
